By July 1934 – Admiral Farie, Colonel Bland-Strang and Major Allott were racing their L-classes, “Shuna”, “Penguin” and “Windsong”. “Isabella” owned by Mr Blatch was raced seperately in the Handicap Class.

“Mermerus”, L 14, a lovely Elkins-built L Class, previously owned by Class Captain, Joe Brumwell. Recently owned by Bob Humberstone and recently sold through “Wooden Ships”.

“Windsong” L3, A L Class built by Elkins, Christchurch for Major P B Allott. Major Allott was President of the Lymington British Legion and was Deputy Office for Defence (ARP) in WW2. He raced “Wingsong” from the Royal Lymington Yacht Club in the years up until 1939

This is a photo of L-Class “Penguin” L4. “Penguin” was built by Elkins for Colonel Bland-Strang.
Ownerships passed to Mr Hubert Tyrer. Mr Tyrer lived at “Windy Brow” Pennington and was a member of the Royal Lymington Yacht club. He was General Manager or Siam or the Anglo-Siam Corporation and retired to Pennington in 1930. He was a Air Raid Warden in Pennington and died in 1944.

Cormorants feed on fish, both seawater and freshwater fishes. They have been know to eat conger eel and mullet.
The bird comes ashore and may be seen with wings outspread to dry them
